New Delhi, September 9 : After three days of rigorous interrogation, Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) yesterday in the drug procurement matter in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
A court in Mumbai sent Rhea Chakraborty to 14-day judicial custody till September 22, as confirmed by her lawyer Satish Maneshinde. Rhea was produced before a court via video-conferencing following a medical examination.
The court rejected Rhea’s bail application. She spent the night in the lockup at the NCB office and will be shifted to Mumbai Byculla Jail at 10 am today (September 9). Rhea Chakraborty was arrested under Sections 27A, 21, 22, 29 and 28 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Rhea Chakraborty to spend the night in jail, bail application to be heard tomorrow
Rhea Chakraborty and Showik Chakraborty’s bail applications will be heard in the Mumbai sessions court tomorrow. Rhea will therefore stay in Byculla jail tonight. The actress was arrested by the NCB yesterday.
Showik Chakraborty’s judicial custody extended
The Narcotics Control Bureau has asked for judicial custody for everyone except for Anuj Keshwani. Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik Chakraborty’s judicial custody has also been extended by the Mumbai sessions court. Showik will be in judicial custody for 14 days. The bail arguments are yet to happen.

Anurag Kashyap shared screenshots of WhatsApp messages between him and Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager where the two are seen discussing casting the late actor. In two tweets, Anurag shared messages exchanged on May 22 and June 14, respectively. In the first screenshot, Sushant’s manager can be seen requesting Anurag to keep Sushant in mind for the casting of future roles, where the filmmaker responds with, “He is too problematic man. I have known him since before he started out and got him his first film Kai Po Che (sic).” He captioned the post, “I am sorry that I am doing this but this chat is from three weeks before he passed away.
