New Delhi, September 4 : With months into the pandemic, the Covid-19 is still raging around the world and have kept the leaders of countries on their toes for carrying out the preventing measures.
While the race for developing Covid-19 vaccine is on, the virus has infected more than 26.2 million people across the countries. The global death toll stands at 866,671, as per the figures published on the John Hopkins University’s site.
In Brazil the number of confirmed cases surpassed 4 million mark. While the death toll neared 125,000 deaths. Both totals are the second highest for any country in the world, behind the United States.
India, third worst-hit country from Covid-19, continued to report high number of Covid-19 infections as it reported more than 80 thousand cases in a day, biggest single day-spike so far.
The overall tally in India stands at 3,853,406 now and the death toll has reached 67,376.
India records 83,341 fresh Covid-19 cases
India’s Covid-19 tally reached 3,936,747 on Friday as it reported more than 80,000 cases in the 24 hours, for second consecutive day. The total number of cases recorded in a day was 83,341, while 1,096 people succumbed to the disease.
Jharkhand reports 1,618 new Covid-19 cases, 6 fresh fatalities
Jharkhand’s Covid-19 caseload rose to 46,480 on Friday as 1,618 more people tested positive for the infection, while six fresh fatalities pushed the state’s death toll to 444, a health official said.
New Zealand to retain measures until mid-Sept
Amid the resurgence of Covid-19 cases, New Zealand has decided to retain coronavirus measures across the country until mid-September.
New clusters found in Singapore worker dorms
The city-state reportedly found two more virus clusters in previously cleared worker dormitories — a day after three other dorms previously cleared were found to have clusters.
The city-state had 48 new cases on Thursday, with 41 of those in dorms, according to the Ministry of Health. Dorm housing for low-paid foreign workers has made up the majority of the country’s cases, reports Bloomberg.
South Korea reports below 200 Covid-19 cases for a second straight day
South Korea added 198 more coronavirus cases in 24 hours, according to data from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, remaining below 200 for a second straight day.
The country — which has battled a resurgence of Covid-19 after early success containing the disease — now has 20,842 total cases.
Mainland China reports 25 new Covid-19 cases
Mainland China reported 25 new Covid-19 cases on September 3, up from 11 reported a day earlier, the country’s national health authority said on Friday.
