Yoga for a healthy life

Kathmandu, Feb 16 : A workshop on yoga, healthy lifestyle and stress management has been held to mark the 62nd anniversary of the National News Agency or RSS here today.

Yoga guru and naturopathic doctor Dr Kshitij Barakoti and yoga instructor Gambhir Shrestha made a presentation in the workshop held at RSS central office.

On the occasion, Dr Barakoti gave a presentation on yoga and healthy eating while Yoga instructor Shrestha delivered a note on busy lifestyle and stress management. Dr Barakoti said that regular practice of yoga leads to physical, mental and spiritual purification.

“There is a practice to resort to yoga only after facing health problems. But yoga is to avoid such problems.” He suggests doing yoga early in the morning on an empty stomach or only three hours after eating.

Yoga instructor Shrestha said that people should be aware of their stress level first and use management options available. To manage immediate stress, one should take long and deep breaths and control the mind, he said.

Speaking on the occasion Executive Chair of RSS Dharmendra Jha said that the journalists’ profession involves a lot of stress and hence yoga practice is important for their stress management.

“Any organization can be healthy only if the employees are healthy and journalists too should continue practicing yoga despite their busy schedule.”
