Kathmandu, Dec 18 : The Nepali Congress has decided to form a new government under its leadership. For this, it is to hold discussions with the ruling coalition. Party’s central execution committee meeting held on Sunday took the decision to this end.
Discussion and dialogues will be intensified with the parties in the ruling coalition, NC said. The President also called for the formation of a new government on Sunday itself.
The election to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly was held on November 20. The Nepali Congress emerged the largest political party in the elections to the local, provincial and federal parliaments.
With this background, the NC has been determined to claim the prime ministerial post. The party also formed a 3-member team to hold election of the parliamentary party committee to pick the parliamentary party leader, according to Chief Secretary at office, Krishna Prasad Poudel.
The team is formed under the coordination of party joint general secretary Bhishma Raj Angdambe and central members Pushpa Bhushal and Prakash Rasaili Snehi.
As per the decision, all seven province execution committees will be directed to initiate the election of parliamentary party leader as per party statute, regulation.
Similarly, the province executive committees are asked to coordinate with the centre in line with article 13 (7.l.) of party statute to decide on whether to lead the province governments or support parties.
