Kathmandu, Nov 30 : Noted journalist Dhrubahari Adhikari has been honoured at a programme in recognition to his special contribution in journalism. Former judge at Supreme Court, Top Bahadur Singh, and eminent linguist Prof Dr Madhav Prasad Pokharel conferred the ‘Rukminiraj Shivakoti Memorial Journalism Award’ on journalist Adhikari amidst a programme organized by Gyangun Foundation on Wednesday.
Adhikari has worked in several acclaimed media including Reuters, BBC, and the Times magazine. Even a book devoted to Adhikari was released on the occasion. Similarly, senior litterateur Govinda Giri ‘Prerana’ was honoured for his special contribution to Nepali literature. Staying in the US, Giri has helped promote Nepali literature. Moreover, a book devoting to the life and works of historians Gyanmani Nepal and Maheshraj pant, social activist late Rukminiraj Shivakoti, former chief justices Dhanendra Bahadur Singh and Bishwonath Upadhyay, former judge Top Bahadur Singh was also made public at the programme.
On the occasion, Pro Dr Pokharel viewed the person who makes contribution to country’s language, literature, justice and other social sectors would undoubtedly remain unforgettable. Similarly, judge Singh thanked the Gyangun Publication for releasing a dozen of books at the same programme.
The feted personalities Adhikari and Giri also spoke on the role founder of the Gyangun Publication, Shesharaj Shivakoti, played for elevation of social and national image. Also appreciating the role played by founder Shivakoti were linguist and critic Sharachchandra Wasti, litterateurs Pramod Pradhan and Rochak Ghimire, and former judge at Supreme Court, Prakash Wasti. The Gyangun Publication has been publishing books on the works of noted personalities in society and national affairs.
