CPN (US) meeting stresses on constitution, democracy

Kathmandu, Feb 5 : The fifth full meeting of the CPN (US) central committee on Sunday urged all concerned sides to be united for the protection of constitution and democracy.

The central committee meeting held for two days in the federal capital, first after the election, expressed worry over the political instability in the country, reasoning it would jeopardize constitution and democracy.

With this, the party urged all the nationalist forces to be united, according to publicity department chief of the party, Jagannath Khatiwada.

The meeting also requested all parties with socialist and communist thoughts to work together for protecting national sovereignty, forward the economic transformation and end social and ethnic discrimination.

The party demanded the formation of a high level all-party mechanism in order to monitor whether the MCC is implemented or not as per interpretative declaration.

CPN (US) also decided that it would take a leading role for peace, stability and development in the country. The party has demanded immediate measures to minimize the economic problems facing the country.

The stakeholders have been demanded to provide relief to the farmers along with timely distribution of seeds and chemical fertilizers. It expressed severe concern over corruption, commission-seeking, land mafia and carteling.
