ITF Junior Tennis Championship to kick off on January 30

Kathmandu, Jan 27 : Circuit-1 competition under the J60 Kathmandu ITF Junior Tennis Championship will be kicking off from January 30. According to Championship director Ajay Bista who is also the member of the organising committee, eight nations towards the U-19 boys category and seven towards the U-19 girls are taking part in the competition.

Each category will have 64 players. The selection matches for the single main draw will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Towards boys’ category, nine participations from Nepal, three each from Vietnam, Chinese Taipei, China and South Korea, two each from the United States of America and Hong Kong and 39 from India will be competition in the selection rounds.

Likewise, towards boys, nine from Nepal, one each from Hong Kong, Belgium, Russia and Thailand, two from Magnolia and 49 from India will be there for selection matches. The tournament will take place at the Satdobato-based Tennis Complex. It is estimated to cost around Rs 1.2 million to host the event.
