First session of Sudurpaschim Province Assembly begins

Sudurpaschim, Jan 2 : The first session of the second term of Sudurpaschim Province Assembly began at Province Assembly Building, Dhangadhi, from Monday.

The meeting passed the proposal for approval of Sudurpaschim Province Assembly Regulations 2074 (first amendment 2076) made by the eldest member Man Bahadur Rawal, unanimously.

On the occasion, Rawal read the letter received from the office of the Province Chief regarding summoning the session, and expressed the belief that the Province Assembly members would be successful to make the tenure successful by maintaining Province Assembly’s prestige.

He also briefed the House that Province Assembly memebrs—Prithvi Bahadur Singh, Janaki Devi Kunwar, Chakra Mala, Khusiram Chaudhary and Maya Panta have been nominated to chair the Province Assembly meeting in his absence as per the Province Assembly Regulation.

During the special hour, Province Assembly members stressed that the five-year term would be collectively utilized to work for the prosperity of the province.

Before this, eldest member Rawal informed that the election to the post of Speaker of the Province Assembly was fixed for January 12. The next meeting of the Province Assembly has been scheduled for the same day.

There are 10 members of the Nepali Congress, 11 of CPN (Maoist Centre), 10 of the CPN (UML), seven of Nagarik Unmukti Party, four of CPN (Unified Socialist), one of Rastriya Swatantra Party and one independent member in Sudurpaschim Province Assembly.
