Kathmandu, Jan 1 : The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has condemned the threat issued to journalist Shailendra Mahato ‘Kranti’ over a news reporting. Kranti who is affiliated to onlinekhabar.com was issued threat of physical assault by Mayor of Bideha Municipality in Dhanusha, Bechan Das.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the FNJ said issuing threat by the person holding a responsible public post is an intimidation to press freedom.
“FNJ strongly condemns the activity to dishearten and threaten journalism profession,” the statement read, urging concerned agencies to create the atmosphere safe for journalists by bringing to book those involved in terrorizing journalists.
