New Delhi, September 12 : Coronavirus India, vaccine news updates LIVE: Coronavirus cases in India sprinted past the 46 lakh on Saturday (September 12) with a record spike in 97,570 infections being reported in a day.
The death toll in the country has mounted to 76,271 with 1,209 single-day fatalities due to the coronavirus. Of the 46 lakh cases, over 36.24 lakh have recovered so far, according to the health ministry.
As the coronavirus cases continue to rise across the world, a Chinese coronavirus vaccine developer had announced that more than 100,000 vaccinations have been given.

Spike of 97,570 fresh cases take India’s tally to over 46 lakh
India has reported the highest-ever spike of 97,570 fresh cases in the past 24 hours which has taken the country’s tally to over 46 lakh. A total of 1,201 patients have succumbed to the coronavirus in a day, according to the health ministry. The total case tally stands at 46,59,985 including 9,58,316 active cases, 36,24,197 cured/discharged/migrated and 77,472 deaths.
UN General Assembly adopts pandemic resolution
The UN General Assembly has approved a resolution on tackling the coronavirus pandemic over objections from the United States and Israel, which protested a successful last-minute Cuban amendment that strongly urges countries to oppose unilateral economic, financial or trade sanctions.

DCGI orders suspension of Oxford Covid-19 vaccine trials recruitment
Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has directed the Serum Institute of India to suspend till further orders new recruitment in phase 2 and 3 clinical trials of the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine candidate in the backdrop of pharma giant AstraZeneca pausing the trials in other countries.
In an order, DCGI Dr V G Somani on Friday also directed Serum Institute of India (SII) to increase the safety monitoring of the subjects already vaccinated as part of the trial, and submit the plan and report. (Source : India Today)
