Mumbai, November 3 : Lyricist Javed Akhtar has filed a criminal complaint against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut for making defamatory statements against him on various news channels. The complaint has been filed before the Metropolitan Magistrate at Andheri, Mumbai.
JAVED AKHTAR SAYS KANGANA HAS HARMED HIS REPUTATION
The complaint has been filed after Kangana Ranaut, in an interview to a news channel, had allegedly caused harm to Javed Akhtar’s reputation with her statements. Javed Akhtar has asked for proceedings against Kangana Ranaut on the basis that the video interview garnered views in lakhs on various online platforms. The veteran lyricist has claimed that Kangana Ranaut dragged his name unnecessarily in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
Kangana Ranaut has been demanding justice for the late actor and has often expressed her views on Twitter. She has also given interviews to various news channels, demanding justice for SSR. Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra home on June 14. A CBI investigation regarding the same is underway.
VERIFICATION OF THE COMPLAINT IS PENDING
Javed Akhtar will have to verify to the court that complaint has been filed by him. The verification of the complaint is pending. Javed Akhtar’s lawyer, Niranjan Mundargi, refused to divulge details of the complaint.
WHEN IS THE FIRST HEARING OF THE CASE?
Javed Akhtar has asked for a defamation case to be registered against Kangana Ranaut under section 499 and 500 of IPC. he first hearing of the case has been kept for December 3, 2020.
